Volvo Car Group, including its strategic affiliates Lynk & Co and Polestar, produce vehicles based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, introduced in 2017. The platform made its debut in 2017 with the popular Volvo XC40. To the end of July more than 600,000 group vehicles based on the platform have been sold.

Volvo Cars reported sales of 47,561 cars in January, a decline by 20.2% While production has continued to gradually improve, retail deliveries were held back due to an increase of cars in transit. Sales of Volvo Cars’ Recharge (electrified) models increased by 11.5% to 18,691 cars sold.

The all-electric Volvo C40 Recharge is available online via volvocars.com in select markets across Europe as of this week. The propulsion system consists of twin electric motors, one on the front and one on the rear axle, powered by a 78 kWh battery that can be fast-charged to 80% in about 40 minutes.

Another automaker is adjusting its near-term electric vehicle target. Volvo is scaling back on its 100% EV pledge by 2030. Volvo was one of the first automakers to set a 100% EV sales goal by 2030. Volvo announced Wednesday that it was adjusting its electrification strategy. Or, in other words, “all cars with a cord.”
