Independent research and business intelligence company Rystad Energy estimates that there are about 91 planned hydrogen pipeline projects in the world, totaling 30,300 kilometers and due to come online by around 2035. Today, more than 4,300 kilometers already exists for hydrogen transportation with more than 90% located in Europe and North America, the company notes.

Last week at the New York auto show, Ram wowed with a new goal post for electric trucks: a targeted range of 500 miles for its 2025 Ram 1500 REV. That range number, introduced by Ram Brand CEO Mike Koval Jr., could make the 1500 REV king of the EV hill in what matters most to many shoppers, and second only to the Lucid Air sedan’s 516 miles.

The American low-speed electric vehicle (LSEV) manufacturer AYRO has placed an order with Saietta Group, a British electric drive (eDrive) specialist, for 3,000 electric drive (eDrive) units. The new AYRO Vanish, a utility LSEV unlike any other that supports campus mobility, last-mile deliveries, and micro-distribution, will go into production later this year.

As Tesla enters Q2 2023, it prepares to start Cybertruck production. Recently, Tesla posted more Cybertruck jobs based in its Texas HQ. With Easter in the past, Tesla is inching closer to the start of initial production for the Cybertruck, which is expected to start this summer. Gigafactory Texas has been a bubble of activity since the beginning of the year, starting with the assembly of its 9,000-ton Giga Press for the Cybertruck’s origami-like exoskeleton.

Mullen Automotive, an emerging EV manufacturer, has integrated solid-state polymer battery technology into Mullen’s commercial Class 1 EV cargo van program. Currently, the Mullen Class 1 EV cargo van features a 46 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a 110-mile range. It is expected that the solid-state polymer technology will deliver more than 200 miles of range on a full charge for the Mullen Class 1 EV cargo van.

Walmart plans to build its own EV fast-charging network, in what reads as an aspiration to create something much larger than what it currently has with Electrify America. The company on Thursday announced plans to install "thousands" of chargers at its Walmart and Sam's Club stores nationwide by 2030. That's in addition to almost 1,300 fast.

The Tesla Cybertruck was recently spotted at Gigafactory Texas while it was seemingly undergoing wind tunnel tests. But while the tests themselves were quite interesting, footage of the upcoming all-electric pickup truck also showed something new — the Cybertruck “mega wiper” in action. When the Cybertruck was initially unveiled in late 2019, the hulking prototype of the all-electric pickup truck featured no wipers at all.

Coca-Cola Canada Bottling Limited is acquiring six Volvo VNR Electric trucks, as part of a pilot program to service its customer delivery routes throughout the Greater Montreal Area. The six trucks are the first Class 8 battery-electric trucks in the beverage distributor’s fleet of 650 heavy-duty vehicles to service customers throughout the region. Researchers at the Department of Energy’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and Stanford University with collaborators at the University of Oregon and Manchester Metropolitan University have developed a seawater-resilient bipolar membrane electrolyzer. The design proved successful in generating hydrogen gas without producing large amounts of harmful byproducts.

The EPA is expected to propose stricter emissions rules that would ensure more than half of new cars and trucks sold in the U.S. are electric, The New York Times reports. The proposal would not mandate a specific percentage of EV sales, but would set emissions limits so stringent that it would essentially force automakers to ensure that EVs.
