BYD and CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd) reportedly aim to launch a new electric vehicle (EV) battery with a 6C charge rate. A battery’s C rating measures the current at which it is charged or discharged. Car News China explains that a charge rate informs people how many times a battery can fully charge within an hour. For a 6C charge rate, a battery would theoretically be able to charge six times in an hour.

Elon Musk has dropped his recently filed lawsuit against OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman, which claimed that the company had abandoned its not-for-profit and open-source origins. Rivian has announced an additional round of layoffs for some salaried roles, after the company let go of a number of workers earlier this year. On Thursday, the electric vehicle (EV) maker said it would be getting rid of a “small number” of salary roles at the company, as reported by Central Illinois Proud. Rivian spokeswoman Kelli Felker told the publication about the news, though it was not disclosed how many positions the company planned to eliminate.

An independent federal monitor has opened an investigation into United Automotive Workers (UAW) President Shawn Fain, citing allegations of retaliation against other leaders at the union.
