In order for engines to last as long as they’re designed to, we need to reassess maintenance practices for this type of operations. Improved fuel economy over SAE 15W-40 conventional oils. The four trucks, based on the Peterbilt Model 320 Hybrid with Labrie body, will operate in daily curbside recycling duty and are expected to provide up to 30% improvements in fuel economy and emissions and significant reductions maintenance costs. Kenworth Truck Company and Peterbilt Motor Company will expanding their alternative fuel line-up by offering the Cummins Westport ISX12 G heavy duty natural gas engine ( earlier post ) for use in regional haul, vocational and refuse markets. Toyota (in partnership with Peterbilt and others), Hyundai and Nikola are the early leaders in hydrogen being a fuel source for over-the-road trucks, highlighted by what they are doing at the Port of Long Beach and elsewhere in California. A maintenance-free car for about $21,000 sounds pretty enticing.
