A zero-emission Kenworth Class 8 T680 day cab tractor equipped with a Ballard hydrogen fuel cell ( earlier post ) is on display at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The truck is part of the PACCAR Innovations booth exhibit—the first time PACCAR and Kenworth have exhibited at the show, which draws close to 200,000 visitors.

Kenworth Truck Company is expanding its product line with the introduction of the Cummins Westport ISL G natural gas engine for the Kenworth T800 short hood and W900S models. Now available for order, Kenworth's natural gas models are focused on vocational, municipal, and pickup and delivery applications.

Capstone Turbine Corporation successfully completed track testing of a Kenworth Class 7 hybrid electric work truck using its 65kW microturbine as an on-board range extender. Once the baseline truck and engine was determined (Volvo D13 (2010 emissions), Kenworth T600, 10-speed manual transmission), two simulation models were used to allow the evaluation of various packages: GT-POWER for engine cycle simulation and RAPTOR to model the vehicle, including the transmission and driveline.
