An evaluation of the implementation possibilities of power-to-fuel (PTF) technologies by a team from Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH in Germany recommends the PTF products DME, OME 3-5 and n-alkanes as suitable dieselalternatives for the transportation sector. In addition, fossil diesel would no longer be required.
DME offers performance that is similar to diesel, making it suited for fleets that have to haul heavy loads. DME produces zero soot, zero sulfur oxides (SO x ), less NO x and also significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to diesel (especially if made from biogas). DME is a gas under ambient conditions.
Riding on its current success — the sale of roughly 400 units in FY23 — the company aims to quadruple its sales within a year and is also working on an electric version of its trucks, to position itself as a leader in sustainabletransportation solutions. The goal is to compete with diesel and offer a viable alternative.
