The California Air Resources Board began the formal process to revise its strategy for the clean-up of on- and off-road diesel engines by directing staff to return in September with specific proposals to provide additional flexibility. We are committed to taking those impacts into consideration for our diesel clean-up program.

The City of Fresno signed a two-year agreement with Clean Energy for renewable liquified natural gas (RLNG) to power approximately 140 refuse trucks with its Redeem brand RNG for an anticipated annual total of 1.6 Clean Energy Fuels Corp. million LNG gallons, the equivalent of just over one million GGEs.

AltAir produces renewable diesel and renewable jet fuel from tallow at its facility in Paramount, CA. The additional $66,000 will fund a Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) developed by Tree Fresno to evaluate the effectiveness of using vegetative barriers to reduce near-road pollution exposure.

Plug Power is expanding its green hydrogen ecosystem to the US west coast with the construction of a new production facility in Fresno County, California. When fully built, the network of plants in the US will offer transportation fuel to customers that is price-competitive with diesel, the company said.

A decision by the Superior Court of California in Fresno agreed with the California Trucking Association’s request to erase a range of amendments to the state’s major rule to clean up diesel trucks and buses. This court decision negates those amendments and deals a profound blow the smaller fleets, small farmers and independent owners.

Heavy-duty trucks, such as the ones targeted under this funding, are the single largest source of NO x and diesel PM in the Valley, and are critical to ensuring that goods are moved throughout the State and nation. Reducing emissions from mobile sources is key to the San Joaquin Valley meeting federal ambient air quality standards.
