Peterbilt showcases Quantum Back-of-Cab CNG storage module

Peterbilt is showcasing Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide’s new Back-of-Cab (BOC) compressed natural gas (CNG) storage module installed on a Peterbilt 579 truck at the Mid-America Trucking Show. This new BOC module uses Quantum’s Q-lite tank technology and stores 123 DGE (Diesel Gallon Equivalent) of fuel.

In-use emissions report for Achates heavy-duty OP diesel shows substantial margin to most stringent EPA NOx proposed regulation

Achates Power has released initial in-use NO x measurements from the cleaner, heavy-duty diesel engine it developed in a project funded by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and several partners. Achates Power previously announced the opposed-piston has entered fleet service with WALMART Corporation in a Peterbilt 579 tractor.

FedEx Freight adds 100 Class 8 CNG tractors, CNG fueling station in Oklahoma City

Less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier FedEx Freight has purchased more than 100 Class 8 CNG tractors from Paccar units Kenworth and Peterbilt, and has installed a CNG fueling station to serve the new CNG fleet at its Oklahoma City Service Center. Also on site is a “time fill” station which has six zones and 18 hoses.

LCSWMA launches $4.8M CNG project; 14 new trucks and filling station

LCSWMA’s CNG project includes 14 new Peterbilt transfer trucks with Cummins-Westport ISX 12L CNG engines, costing around $2.2 LCSWMA purchased the fleet in 2013 and transitioned them into operation last month. Previously, LCSWMA used diesel-powered trucks that consumed an average of 140,000 gallons of diesel fuel annually.
