The trend of in-car subscriptions has caught the eye of lawmakers in New Jersey, two of whom took it upon themselves to draft a proposed bill that would ban car companies from offering subscriptions for features that “utilizes components and hardware already installed on the motor vehicle at the time of purchase.”

Ford Motor Company has certified the first 67 dealers in California, New York and New Jersey to sell the battery-electric 2012 Focus Electric. Earlier post.). Those three states represent markets that account for a large percentage of electrified vehicle sales and will begin seeing the Focus Electric later this spring.

Ford has tripled to more than 200 the number of US dealers certified to sell its lineup of plug-in electrified vehicles, including the new C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid that is on sale now and delivers the equivalent of 105 mpg combined in electric mode. Ford recently began production of the C-MAX Energi at its Michigan Assembly Plant.
