EVs have Better Warranties The average gasoline vehicle has a powertrain warranty of 5 years or 50,000 miles. Thanks to federal regulations, EV batteries are required to be 8 years or 100,000 miles. California goes even further and requires battery warranties of 10 years or 150,000 miles.

As of now, every version of both cars qualifies for the $7,500 EV tax credit —now a point-of-sale purchase rebate for eligible buyers.
