If I was to keep the car, I would need to replace the battery pack (yet again), and if I were to go to that trouble (and expense), then it would make sense to purchase something larger than the current 24 kWh version.

The provision requires that a new qualified plug-in electric drive motor vehicle purchased by the taxpayer has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $80,000 or less. While not specified in the Senate technical explanation document, it is a reasonable assumption that the MSRP cap does not include destination charges.
