Nissan, through its joint venture with NEC ( NIPNY.PK ), has created a battery pack that meets the requirements of the electric vehicle and will produce it in mass volume. In addition to Smart Grid City, another major EV/V2G initiative is unfolding. The entire framework will go through a series of tests starting this year.

In addition to a recent electric car deal with NISSAN Motors ( NSANY ), Portland General Electric, the Oregon state governor and GE have also announced a joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors ( MMTOF.PK ) to develop and sell the Miev electric car with 85 mile range by 2011. Tax credit incentives are also available to consumers in the U.S.
