The Wyoming Rock Springs Uplift could potentially store 14 to 17 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), according to results from a Department of Energy-sponsored study. The recovered lithium could generate revenue to offset the cost of CO 2 storage and help reduce the need for lithium import.
