Premium Renewable Energy (Malaysia) Sdn. has selected Envergent Technologies LLC, a Honeywell company, to perform the engineering design for a project that will use Envergent’s RTP Rapid Thermal Processing technology ( earlier post ) to convert palm biomass to renewable heat and electricity.

Petronas and Lanzatech are partnering to extend LanzaTech’s CO fermentation technology to consume CO 2 for the production of acetic acid. LanzaTech’s proprietary fermentation process converts carbon monoxide in industrial waste gases, reformed natural gas and gas derived from any biomass source into low-carbon fuels and chemicals.

In August 2011, the MOU was developed to explore the cooperation for the development of pyrolysis oil market in the South East Asia Region for a period of six months.

In July 2010, Gevo successfully produced isobutanol from fermentable sugars derived from cellulosic biomass and also successfully converted the cellulosic isobutanol into isobutylene and paraffinic kerosene. The process technology for converting isobutanol to hydrocarbons is low-energy input and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 85%.
