Smith Electric Vehicles to open manufacturing facility in Chicago

Chicago will be Smith’s third location in the United States, joining the headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced a $15-million incentive program that will encourage companies and individuals to modernize their fleets and convert to electric vehicles.

US DOE Awards $300 Million in Clean Cities Grants to Support Alternative Fuels, Vehicles, and Infrastructure Development

The stations will provide additional CNG fueling in cities and along the Interstate corridors that pass through Kansas City – East to West on I-70 and North to South on I-35. Vehicles to be deployed include 163 CNG, the vast majority for high mileage taxis and 18 heavy-duty LNG refuse trucks. Total DOE award: $14,994,183.
