Open Source Civic EV Kit

After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. There are already commercially available kits with excellent, detailed instructions for how to convert a vehicle.

On a side note, I purchased a DVD from Bob Bath regarding his CivicWithACord project. He's documented much of the work needed to get a fifth generation ('92-'95) Civic converted to electric. Joe and Ken will take care of the booth today and I'll finish up the last six hours tomorrow.

I lost much sleep last night obsessing about how I could fix the DC-DC converter and, as a result, I was very tired and had an irritable day. I find out this morning from Ross Cunniff (who also recently completed the 914 AC kit), that he has had ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS with his CCPower DC-DC converter.

Revenge of the Electric Car

3Prong Power converts existing Toyota Priuses into plug-in hybrids that can run entirely on electricity. They convert Toyota Prius hybrids into mostly electric vehicles that get 100 to 150 miles per gallon. It takes 3Prong Power a little more than a day to convert a Prius to a plug-in, and costs customers about $6,700.
