I''m new to the ev world but my idea was to eleminate the batteries.start with a vw beetle, put a 50 hp or more electric motor kit (sold for 3k to 7.5k). Now instead of batteries arrange the front end to fit a two stroke engine (two strokes are easiest to convert to steam) running a generator head with enough current to power the 50 hp motor.

I am interested in using a forklift motor to convert to an EV. An owner of a forklift wreckers told me that a 24V electric palletjack motor would be good for a small car. Is a Porsche 924 an easy car to convert? He said that he would sell me a motor that can lift about 3.5 He said I shouldn't overvolt this motor.

I converted my 1992 Toyota pickup to all electric on Sept 2011. I have driven it to work and back 40 miles every day for the past 6 months. I have put over 6000 EV miles on it now. I have continuously been making efficiency tweaks to it. Check out the improvements: Initially 118Amp draw at 50mph.
