Synhelion starts construction of DAWN demo plant to produce solar fuels

Green Car Congress

The solar radiation is converted into high-temperature process heat of more than 1,000°C, then drives the thermochemical reaction to produce solar fuels. The reactor is fed with methane (CH 4 ) and carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) of biowaste origin from a local paper mill, as well as water (H 2 O).

Five Cool Tech Demos From the ARPA-E Summit

Cars That Think

Chilldyne optimized the cold plate using corkscrew-shaped metal channels, called turbulators, that force water around them “like little tornadoes,” maximizing the heat absorbed, says Harrington. The rare earth oxide then undergoes a molten-salt electrolysis process that converts it into a solid metal form.

Audi in new e-fuels project: synthetic diesel from water, air-captured CO2 and green electricity; “Blue Crude”

Green Car Congress

Audi’s latest e-fuels project is participation in a a pilot plant project in Dresden that produces diesel fuel from water, CO 2 and green electricity. The sunfire plant, which operates according to the “power-to-liquid” (PtL) principle, requires carbon dioxide, water and electricity as raw materials. PtL = Power-to-Liquids.
