First up was removing the rear portion of the exhaust system, shown here next to my trusty 34mpg 1994 Saturn. Someone else converted a '94 Saturn Wagon to an EV, but I'll keep mine!) My only concern is that I'll be taking the flywheel for the EV conversion. Here is the removed transmission. Next up: Clutch and flywheel removal.

About a month ago, I sold my old '94 gasoline Saturn wagon and purchased an '03 Subaru Outback. I'm glad to see Ross Cunniff and Matt Kneipper get their AC 914 conversions on the road as well. The electrical plug-in station at work has been lonely over the past few months and I'll be psyched to get the car back on the road.

It's a 2002 Saturn SL1 with 220,000 miles and a rough engine, however it still runs. I am thinking of doing a conversion like Daniel Lynn's car :-. I have bought my donor car. The price was $900 which was OK I think? I have been looking for ages on Craigslist for the right car and toyed with all sort of cars.

The keys will likely be handed to me (and EV1 co-veteran Linda Nicholes) by Bob Sexton, the very mechanic who rotated the tires of our EV1s at Saturn Marina del Rey back in 1998. But this week takes me right back to car heaven. I am very very lucky!

Many more heavy-duty vehicle conversions (including three recycling dump-trucks that will run in "silent" mode for pickups) are in progress.
