The same state agency that drove the electric car off a cliff is now poised to wreck a new Berkeley company that triples the gas mileage of a Toyota Prius. Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not. Many of the first Prius hybrids that were released are still running strong on their NiMH batteries after 100,000+ miles. Lead batts are around 98% recycled.
