All models have dual motors for four-wheel drive capability and the F-150 Lightning sells from about US$50K (minus taxes and on-road costs), which is US$10K more than it launched at. On-sale in the USA from late 2021, the Hummer lobs with super-expensive launch pricing and immense capability courtesy of a 745kW tri-motor powertrain.

It is only a matter of economics motivated by incentives or taxes. In fact, the optimized PHEV is much more efficient as a long range liquid fuel vehicle, because the engine is downsized. In fact, use of these fuels is required by law in many states of the USA. There are trucks and buses being converted commercially today.

Several after-market companies have done PHEV conversions of the Ford Escape hybrid and one has done a retrofit of the F-150 pickup -- see Where PHEVs Are and ICE-Conversions.) Has shown some concept fuel-cell PHEVs. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. We hope Ford will, and then move ahead!
