These high-capacity 8-volt golf-cart batteries are 70 pounds apiece. I pre-laid out these batteries on the floor to guestimate what the connections between the terminals were. I've got an e-mail into ElectroAuto for some connection diagrams, but haven't received the files yet. Tonight was an evening of heavy lifting.

Thanks to US golf cart maker E-Z-GO , which partnered with National Calendar Day to help establish National Golf Cart Day in celebration of the brand’s 70th anniversary, we can now all celebrate these pint-sized car replacements with their own holiday.

I'm a bit wiped from the initial burst of installing all the battery racks, so I took it a bit easier on Friday and Saturday to do some of the smaller installation steps. The two one-inch holes will get grommets for the high-current battery cables connecting the front batteries with the middle pack.

In the process, I got some two-conductor wire to make the connections to the potbox switch and backup-light switch cleaner. The blue wire has two conductors in it and replaces the two dangling black wires that I originally installed. Here's the side of the transmission with the two-conductor cable installed on the backup-light switch.

It's a pity that we have to remove this, but the size of the golf-cart batteries clearly interfere with the latch. Since heat no longer comes from the heat exchangers over the exhaust system, we're going to thread the high-current battery cables through the heater ducts to connect the front and rear components.
