The project is to result in a model concept for efficient public passenger transit with autonomous buses in Baden-Württemberg. kWh Li-ion system for a range of up to 50 km under normal conditions.

With HEO, electrochemical properties can be tailored, as was found by scientists at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). This concept was first reported for metallic high entropy alloys (HEA).

This is the opposite of the approach taken by Toyota with its Mirai fuel cell vehicle ( earlier post ) and Honda with its new FCV Concept ( earlier post ). The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. One wonders if the recent headway at MIT in building lithium ion cells using ?virus? The EV1 needs to be built with LI batteries and a REAL Assembly Line.
