Porsche AG will stage the world premiere of a parallel full hybrid model at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The world premiere in Geneva is being complemented by the 918 RSR hybrid racing car concept ( earlier post ), making its first public appearance in front of a European audience.

Peugeot has designed a new gasoline-electric plug-in hybrid racing concept: the L500 R Hybrid. Developed by Peugeot Sport teams, the 500-bhp plug-in hybrid powertrain features two electric motors (one front and one rear) plus a 270 hp gasoline engine, yielding peak torque of 730 N·m (538 lb-ft).

Toyota’s next-generation Prius will deliver significantly improved fuel economy in a more compact package that is lighter in weight and lower in cost, according to Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Managing Officer Satoshi Ogiso. Porsche has introduced the 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid sports car, the first of six or more plug-in hybrids coming from the Volkswagen Group. Porsche had unveiled the concept version of the 918 Spyder Plug-in Hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show in 2010. This design requires a new thermodynamic air channeling concept.

The first performance hybrid from Mercedes-AMG—AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE—is entering series production for the European market, drawing upon technologies from Formula 1. The concept includes a distinctive drive layout with an electric motor and battery on the rear axle as well as a high-performance battery developed in-house.
