I've been documenting electric cars in junkyards for about a decade. The first were converted gasoline vehicles fitted out with lead-acid battery packs ( a Chevy Sprint , a Geo Metro and a Ford Ranger ). Good replacement batteries for these cars aren't cheap.

Hopefully the funding was from the same place as well… 2 Bill C said on March 13th, 2009 at 1:21 pm I think a few billion should be taken out of the Detroit bailout and give some capital to all of the electric car companies. The tango (commuter cars) says they only need 50 million to become profitable.

The BIG advantage of this car (besides the fact that nobody can take it away from us!) This is the car that we take on family trips, and it is also the daily commute car now that the EV1 has been returned to GM. is that it has five doors and seats five people. The Mods section is where most of my time is spent.
