The new fast-charging hub can power up entire fleets of vehicles in minutes, setting the stage for cross-border, all-electric commercial transportation. Rwanda was one of the first countries on the African continent to introduce very progressive policies for electric vehicles.
Africa hosts an estimated 27 million motorbikes (motos), out of which 80% is estimated to be used for commercial taxi service. All these motos have the potential to soon be riding on electricity! State-level commercial EV infrastructure incentives are also available to businesses to help make up the shortfall of EV charging infrastructure in the US. Countries like Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Egypt all have plans in place to increase EV production and usage. Needless to say, EV sales are increasing globally.
