ElectraMeccanica , a designer and assembler of electric vehicles, and Tevva , a manufacturer of electric medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, have entered into a definitive agreement, pursuant to which ElectraMeccanica and Tevva have agreed to combine by way of a British Columbia statutory plan of arrangement.

Continental and Knorr-Bremse AG have entered into a partnership to develop a complete system solution for highly automated driving (HAD) in commercial vehicles, initially focused on automated convoy driving (platooning). Knorr-Bremse will offer the complete system to commercial vehicle manufacturers in Europe, North America and Asia.

On 14 April, the transport ministers of all 28 EU member states signed the Amsterdam Declaration , laying down agreements on the steps necessary for the development of connected, autonomous driving technology in the EU. The signatories pledge to draw up rules and regulations that will allow autonomous vehicles to be used on the roads.

After testing truck platooning in Europe ( earlier post ) and the US ( earlier post ), Daimler Trucks has begun testing platooning in Japan with its FUSO brand. During these tests, a heavy-duty FUSO Super Great operates electronically connected and semi autonomously in a platoon with trucks of other Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturers.
