Colorado State University will retrofit two internal delivery trucks with fuel-efficient hydraulic hybrid systems, paid for by a grant from the Colorado Energy Office. Colorado State has selected Lightning Hybrids LLC ( earlier post ) to provide the systems.

An additional 30 vehicles from Colorado-based Lightning eMotors will be deployed over the next few months. These last-mile delivery vehicles feature Lightning Analytics, a cloud-based telematics system that provides predictive maintenance, route scoring, range analysis, driver behavior, and geofencing for maximum range and efficiency.

Xcel Energy has launched a new pilot for customers of five major automakers to make it easier for consumers to make the switch to electric vehicles in Colorado and to charge their EVs at times when renewable energy production is high and demand on the energy grid is low. The pilot program will include up to 600 EV customers in Colorado.
