Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology is expected to support a cleaner, more resilient electrical grid, while enabling EV owners to save money while charging their vehicles. Software provider WeaveGrid , in collaboration with Toyota, has developed just such a platform.

Toyota Motorsport GmbH’s (TMG) TMG EV P002 ( earlier post ) set a new electric record on the 20.8km Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany. This marks the second milestone for TMG’s electric powertrain this year following its new record at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado.

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), USA will place ten Prius plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHV) with Xcel Energy’s SmartGridCity project in Boulder, Colorado. The SmartGridCity project is the first fully functioning smart grid enabled city. Its goal is to provide increased grid reliability and energy use information.

Households with plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) and smart meters actively managed how, when and where they charged their cars based on electricity rates but rarely took advantage of online feedback, according to a two-year study by a team at the University of Colorado Boulder’s Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute ( RASEI ).
