The Seattle City Council unanimously passed Resolution 31379 stating Seattle’s opposition to the transportation of coal through Seattle. There are currently four coal exports under permit review in the Northwest that collectively could increase US coal exports by 150 million tons of coal annually.

Coal still supplies more power in the US than anything else, with natural gas next. However, building more coal and gas power plants to make miles for transport is counter-productive if the game plan is to reduce carbon output. Hydropower in Seattle will push you around for the same price.

Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) is the concept of using stored energy in a plug-in hybrids (or electric cars) battery to send power to the electrical grid when necessary. Dont PHEVs just shift pollution from gasoline cars to power plants?
