But its monumentally less pollution , even on the national (half-coal) grid. Toyotas Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries are considered "non-hazardous waste" [See "high voltage electrical systems" ]. Better yet, make a tax-deductible contribution. Are the batteries recyclable? What about battery safety?
