The International Energy Agency (IEA) said earlier this year that SUVs emit 20% more CO2 compared to cars regardless of powertrain type.

Next week, the California Air Resources Board is expected to adopt strict new regulations based on the theory that the innovative technology sold by 3Prong Power and other companies may be bad for the environment. As a result, the plug-ins burn much less fuel, thereby significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

They use cheap, clean, and domestic electricity for short trips and daily commutes, displacing or eliminating oil consumption and CO2 pollution. The objections they raised for years -- "no one is interested, no one would plug in, the technology is too complex, the benefits are minimal, its just shifting the pollution from the tailpipe to the smokestack, theres no demand for these cars" -- still show up occasionally, but are by and large history. We need to know, is it viable?
