The car, the world’s first production hybrid electric vehicle to be powered by a Liquefied Petroleum Injected (LPI) engine, goes on sale in South Korea next Wednesday (8 July). Achieve forty miles per gallon or cut carbon dioxide emissions to an average of 140g/km - that’s the target that has been set by the South Korean Presidential Committee on Green Growth. Despite the fact that average CO2 emissions in the country in 2007 stood at 201g/km, the committee has set this ambitious target for 2015.

Hyundai Motor Corporation has received more than 1,000 pre-sale orders for the Avente/Elantra LPI hybrid since June 17 ahead of the car going on sale in South Korea on July 8. The LPI Hybrid qualifies as a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle and has a fuel economy rating of 17.8km/l (42mpg) - the petrol equivalent fuel economy is 51mpg.

South Korea’s largest car manufacturer, Hyundai, has now started to take pre-orders for its first hybrid vehicle for commercial sale. Its fuel economy rating is 42mpg with a petrol equivalent economy of 51mpg. This is a 47 per cent improvement when compared to the conventional 1.6litre Elantra.

The work on the transmission has taken three years and was carried out at the Namyang Research and Development facility in South Korea. It has a fuel economy rating of 53mpg – a 47 per cent improvement over the 1.6l The CVT may be applied in other vehicles going forward, but modifications to the system would be needed.

We support the phase-out date for the import of fossil fuel vehicles, between 2030 and 2032. . states with fossil fuel car bans in place. This includes Norway and South Korea, by 2025. Successful schemes should be designed to capture CO2, fuel economy, NOx and safety benefits.

based technology will actually achieve any economy in production. It was a Manufacturing Failure, as GM NEVER planned to build the car in Volume, so No Economies of Scale were ever achieved. If no one wants your car (because people think it sucks), then no one will buy it, regardless of how good the fuel economy may or may not be.
