The NYPD already uses electric scooters and electric powered golf carts on boardwalks, in parks and some transit hubs. The FDNY and NYPD initially will use the vehicles for non-emergency duties, including use by NYPD Traffic Enforcement Agents. The Chevrolet Volt is the first electric car being used by the NYPD.

It’s basically just a souped-up golf cart, but Ford wouldn’t allow them to import it into the US. Frankly, there’s always someone there who argues in favor of investing in clean diesel or clean gas, but not electric. Steiner designed the prototype himself, basing it on the 1908 model, and then engaged the Chinese manufacturer.

I bet a used Stanley Steamer didn’t fetch much in 1925 when gas stations made it to every street corner. They are either glorified golf cart city cars like this one or they are only for the very wealthy like the Tesla. Boones natural gas ( CNG ) plans. Electric cars a still a joke. A few warts there too however.
