The Climate Package ($750) is a must-have in cold climates, featuring heated windshield wipers, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Fuel economy for the Recharge is 55 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) when you use electricity and gasoline and drops to 27 mpg when you don’t charge up the battery.

This combination delivers EPA fuel economy numbers of 33 mpg city/41 highway/36 combined. As a test, part of those miles were driven with the cruise control set at 65 mph where we averaged 44 mpg, and at 60 mph resulting in 51.4 We also feature those efficient gas-powered vehicles that are among the top mpg vehicles in their class.

The EPA has rated the fuel economy at 21 mpg city/28 highway/24 combined. Cracking 30 mpg on the open road with a midsize AWD was a nice surprise, but it really shouldn’t be that big of deal as Clean Fleet Report feels all AWD cars, at a minimum, should get 30+ mpg on the highway. non-turbo, rated at 25/28/26 mpg.

The EPA 46 MPG Is Only the Start. You had me at 46 MPG. These driving routes were chosen for their scenic variety, and the 80-percent highway/20-percent city driving mix that covered 630 miles resulting in an average of 58 mpg. Sometimes the EPA is spot-on, but commonly we exceed its numbers by a few miles per gallon.
