Markus Krebber (RWE), accompanied by Chairman of the Mining, Chemical and Energy Industries Union (IG BCE) Michael Vassiliadis, presented a project idea that envisions a new 2 GW offshore wind farm in the German North Sea to provide the Ludwigshafen chemical site with green electricity and enable CO 2 -free production of hydrogen.
The Chilean-German energy partnership launched in 2019 offers great potential to cooperate on climateprotection and the indispensable transformation of the fuel industry. Haru Oni will produce green hydrogen via electrolysis using renewable energy from the wind. We firmly support this groundbreaking project.
Under the name “Green Wilhelmshaven,” Germany-based international energy company Uniper plans to establish a German national hub for hydrogen in Wilhelmshaven and is working on a corresponding feasibility study. Plans include an import terminal for green ammonia. In other words: We need ‘green molecules’ as well as ‘green electrons’.
Among the projects being funded by the German Agency for Disruptive Innovation ( SPRIND ) is an effort by Horst Bendix to develop a high-altitude, on-shore wind turbine. The higher a wind turbine is installed, the more efficiently it will work, because the wind is much steadier and blows with greater force at altitude.
The decarbonization of power generation requires reliable, flexible, but also climate-neutral, power plants to supplement the fluctuating generation from wind and sun. That is why we continue to develop our gas engines for use with green hydrogen—whether as a 10 or 25% admixture or for 100%.
Unfortunately, due to our grid situation, electric cars are still too early for this strategic goal in the sense of German climateprotection efforts. According to the study, natural gas combustion engines are an ideal technology for transitioning to vehicles powered by hydrogen or “green” methane in the long term.
Business must do even more for climateprotection, even in difficult times, said Franz Fehrenbach, chairman of the Bosch board of management, an a talk at the Baden-Württemberg sustainability congress held in Stuttgart on 25 March ( Nachhaltigkeitskongress Baden-Württemberg 2009 ). In Fehrenbach’s view, this would be a breach of trust.
Currently unavoidable CO 2 emissions are offset by investments in certified climateprotection projects elsewhere. Volkswagen already fixed an agreement with this Korean company, that only certified green power would be used to manufacture the battery cells. LG Chem is supplying the cells for the ID., Earlier post.)
Initiated by Porsche and implemented with partners including Siemens Energy and ExxonMobil, production of eFuels from hydrogen and CO 2 using wind energy is expected to start there in mid-2022. EFuels make an important contribution to climateprotection and complement our electromobility in a meaningful way.
To make an effective contribution to climateprotection, the overall environmental balance of all vehicle components must be improved and partners brought into the process. Northvolt will obtain the energy needed to produce the battery cells exclusively from wind and hydroelectric power generated regionally in northern Sweden.
In the first half of 2020, the proportion of green electricity as a percentage of the total electricity mix in Germany exceeded 50% for the first time. Hager Group and Audi are thus bidirectional charging at home, otherwise known as Vehicle to Home (V2H).
Northvolt will obtain 100% of the energy needed to produce the battery cells regionally in northern Sweden and exclusively from wind and hydroelectric power. To make an effective contribution to climateprotection, we aim to improve our products’ overall environmental balance—from resources to recycling.
BSAG wants to achieve 50% climate-neutral operations by 2025. The electricity used is already coming from hydroelectric and wind power. Moreover, BSAG is compensating for fossil fuels and the resulting emissions by participating in climateprotection projects.
Electromobility will only significantly contribute to environmental and climateprotection when the electricity from the batteries has been generated high efficiently and with less CO 2. Therefore we are investing in research to find ways of generating electricity from renewable energy technologies such as wind and solar energy.
Hydrogen and fuel cells are an ideal combination for climateprotection as well as for the energy and transport revolution. The on-site production of hydrogen by electrolysis and by means of wind energy will be planned in a later phase of the project. They allow the storage of energy and emission-free travelling on rail.
If the traffic becomes more congested (especially therefore in urban areas) or the road becomes more winding, the regenerative braking settings are available to the driver. Last but not least, without any fine tuning, wind and rolling sounds are much more noticeable in electric vehicles, as they are in luxury cars. D1, D2, D3.
The legislation would also provide new incentives for domestic oil and gas drilling, nuclear power plant construction, carbon capture and storage, and renewable energy sources like wind and solar. The right mix of TLC can produce job creation with energy security and climateprotection at the most efficient cost, according to Deutsche Bank.
