California 2017 GHG inventory shows 1.2% total drop from 2016; transportation sector emissions up 1%

The transportation sector remains the largest source of GHG emissions in the state, and saw a 1% increase in emissions in 2017. Transportation sector emission sources include combustion of fuels utilized in-state that are used by on-road and off-road vehicles, aviation, rail, and water-borne vehicles, as well as a few other smaller sources.

ARB releases proposed cap-and-trade regulation for comment; transportation fuels impacted in 2015

The program will cover the major sources of GHG emissions in the State, including refineries and power plants, industrial facilities, and transportation fuels. Starting in 2012, the program will cover electricity generation, including imports, and large industrial sources and processes with annual GHG emissions at or above 25,000 MTCO 2 e.
