Alcoa signs long-term agreement with Airbus for titanium and aluminum parts; modernized 50,000-ton press

Alcoa will produce the parts using its recently modernized 50,000-ton press in Cleveland, Ohio. Alcoa Cleveland Works manufactures the large aluminum structural die forgings for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program. Alcoa’s aerospace business generated $3.8 billion in 2012 revenues.

Ford Motor Company began production of its EcoBoost engines ( earlier post ) at Cleveland Engine Plant No. Approximately 250 employees are returning to the plant to build the new engines. The first EcoBoost engine in the family—the 3.5-liter A V-6 EcoBoost engine will be available for the F-150 in 2010.
