Montenegro leaped 48 slots, from 89 th place in 2010 to 41 st in this year’s ranking. Environmental damage to forests, crops and water supplies can also result from long-term, high-sulfur emissions. Overall, the majority of countries are moving toward low-sulfur, cleaner fuels.
