IPG’s project will demonstrate the role of Flameless Ceramic Turbine technology in bringing EV charging to high-use and remote locations through clean, cheap, grid-independent power generation. Not only can IPG’s technology deliver low-emission, pollutant-free energy on today’s cleaner fuels.
The Methanol Institute (MI) released two new reports on the use of methanol as a safe, efficient and cleanalternative fuel for cars, trucks and buses. Neat methanol can also be used in optimized vehicles as a substitute for either gasoline or diesel fuel in both spark-ignition and combustion-ignition engines.
Eligible diesel vehicles, engines and equipment may include drayage trucks; marine engines; locomotives and non-road engines; and equipment or vehicles used in the handling of cargo at a marine or inland water port. These awards will be in addition to EPA’s annual National CleanDiesel Campaign (NCDC) Funding Assistance Program.
EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ) is soliciting proposals ( EPA-OAR-OTAQ-14-02 ) that achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions in terms of tons of pollution produced by diesel engines and diesel emissions exposure, from fleets operating at marine and inland water ports.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) awarded $516,637 in cleandiesel grants to four organizations. The cleandiesel program’s goal is to improve air quality by decreasing emissions from diesel-powered transit bus and school bus fleets. Jennings Transportation Corp.:
EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ) is soliciting proposals ( EPA-OAR-OTAQ-14-07 ) that achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions in terms of tons of pollution produced by diesel engines and diesel emissions exposure, from fleets operating at marine and inland water ports located in areas of poor air quality.
The project was selected for funding by the California Energy Commission, which awarded Sierra Northern Railway and GTI nearly $4 million in March to fund the design and demonstration of the train in Sacramento, with the goal of creating a cleanalternative to diesel locomotives.
EcoDual , LLC, a provider of dual fuel natural gas conversion systems for heavy-duty diesel trucks, has achieved US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) compliance for installing its systems on 2004 to 2009 Cummins ISX engines. In dual fuel operation, the trucks maintain full torque and power with no loss of miles per gallon.
Geographical distribution of Clean Cities Recovery Act awards. The US Department of Energy (DOE) has selected 25 cost-share projects under the Clean Cities program that will be funded with nearly $300 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Clean Energy Coalition’s CEC Michigan Green Fleets Initiative.
The facility will be located in Southern California and produce the DME, which can be used as an alternative to diesel and propane, as well as for a variety of non-transportation uses. SoCalGas is committed to supporting the development and deployment of cleanalternative transportation fuels.
The combination can be done without the implementation of expensive and cumbersome clean-up technologies which enables a simple and cost-effective system design. The high-temperature (HT) PEM technology operates at 160-180 °C and has a high resistance to impurities in reformat gas—making it suitable to combine with fuel reformers.
Conversion systems allow vehicles to run on alternative fuels; most conversions involve switching gasoline or diesel vehicles to operate instead on a gaseous fuel such as natural gas or propane; an alcohol fuel; or electricity.
The City of London Corporation—the municipal governing body of the City of London—has banned the purchase of diesel vehicles for its business, in a drive to reduce public exposure to air pollution. These vehicles will continue to be used until a cleanalternative becomes available on the market.
The objective is to demonstrate that hydrogen fuel cell technology is an appropriate way to achieve zero-emission rail traffic on non-electrified lines in the Netherlands where there are currently diesel trains running. The Coradia iLint is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, which produces electrical power for traction.
The deal includes an order for three of Wabtec’s FLXdrive battery locomotives and a collaboration to test ammonia as a potential clean, alternative fuel to replace diesel. Today, three to four diesel locomotives pull the train. This way, we would have a clean operation at EFC.
The program will also help achieve the goals of the state’s Climate Change Scoping Plan that requires California to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by the year 2020 with cleanalternative fuels. Transportation accounts for 40% of the total emissions of climate changing gases.
Today, the term “alternative” is used for all fuels that are not a part of the fossil fuel group—diesel, gasoline, heavy oil and kerosene. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) are considered alternative fuels. Our aim is to achieve zero-emission logistics by 2050.
The EPA’s “Clean Bus Program” will be spending $1 billion in the 2023 fiscal year to help schools buy electric buses and other cleaner alternatives. Their “Clean Bus Program” is targeted explicitly at replacing gas and diesel buses with cleanalternatives.
The cars’ first placement is with Newcastle City Council, where they are supplementing its vehicle fleet and being allocated to staff making trips around the city, as an alternative to using fleet cars with conventional petrol or diesel engines.
