The City of London Corporation—the municipal governing body of the City of London—has banned the purchase of diesel vehicles for its business, in a drive to reduce public exposure to air pollution. These vehicles will continue to be used until a clean alternative becomes available on the market.

Now, the Sharjah Public Transport Corporation has taken the decision to introduce gas powered taxi and bus fleets. Now it is going to convert all 5,065 taxis to run on natural gas by the end of the year - since last year Dubai has been replacing its existing taxi fleets with eco-friendly cars that run on hybrid engines.
