French carmaker Citroen has lifted the lid on its latest generation supermini the C3 and in a first for the manufacturer the car will be available in a variant which produces less than 100g/km of CO2. Manufacturers continue to make efforts to slash carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and now Citroen has introduced two new greener power plants to its C5 range. 16V 143hp unit; and a new 2.0HDi 16V 160hp diesel that replaces the 2.2HDi 16V 173hp engine. The saloon version of the Citroen C5 starts at £18,195 on the road.

As we edge closer to the eagerly anticipated launched of the Citroen C3 supermini at the Frankfurt Motor Show, more details have emerged about the best-seller. Indeed the HDi DPFS 90 diesel version, which will be available from launch, will be the first full production Citroen to emit less than 100g/km of CO2 with emission levels of 99g/km.
