Most Chinese carmakers have backed away from plans to attack the U.S. market, and their hopes of dominating electric cars have slowed. But Chinese maker BYD continues to develop and test the e6 all-electric crossover utility it hopes to sell in the U.S. within a couple of years.

BYD, a company struggling to sell its e6 electric crossover in its home market, has decided it won''t be sold at all to private customers in the U.S. Instead, says the ChinaEV blog, the e6 will be a fleet-only vehicle in the U.S, as the company instead concentrates on its electric bus sales in North America.

The Joylong E6. The Joylong E6 is an electric minibus that can carry up to 17 passengers. We had seen the prototype of this vehicle over a year ago and now Perth based Global Automotive Distributors has waded through the red tape and bureaucracy to bring the E6 to Australia in November.
