In my rear view mirror I watched a Los Angeles Sheriff’s car pull out of the Chevron and turn on both its blue and red flashing lights to pursue me down Ventura Boulevard. Night time grid charging is cheapest (&# $1 a gallon&# ) and the whole process will be even greener come the end of January when our roof (finally) gets solar panels.

We’ve got a greenhouse gas-spewing Exxon-Mobil refinery just 5 miles from my house here in Torrance and 9 miles up Pacific Coast Highway sits the climate-changing Chevron refinery in El Segundo. I volunteer with GRID Alternatives installing solar panels on low income and Habitat for Humanity houses.
