The cost to operate an EV, per mile, is already well below the cost to drive a standard ICE-age model, and the advantage is likely to widen. The average US residential customer pays 12 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) , which means the cost to drive one mile in an EV is somewhat less than 4 cents. New cars in 2015 get 25 mpg.)

LytEn produces hydrogen from the cracking of methane (fossil natural gas or renewable biomethane) through a proprietary process. For the LCFS pathway applications, LytEn is using landfill gas. renewable biomethane and the balance fossil natural gas or 100% renewable biomethane as feedstocks for the production of hydrogen.

The electric road ahead for heavy trucks is not exactly clear, and there are several roadblocks, some obvious and some far less so. Fleets don’t want to go electric at scale until they’ve done years-long pilots, but the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation will artificially constrict that timeframe. Soon they won’t have a choice.

Since 1993 my wife and I have lived in Torrance California, just a half mile from the beautiful beach and the Pacific Ocean. What we’re not breathing is clean air, because the smoke from the La Canada-Flintridge fire, about 38 miles from here, is still making air quality hazardous and people in the L.A.

In my rear view mirror I watched a Los Angeles Sheriff’s car pull out of the Chevron and turn on both its blue and red flashing lights to pursue me down Ventura Boulevard. “This is the electric car?&#. It does zero to 60 in under 4 seconds, and it’s totally electric.&#. Even I was surprised. Case in point?
