Even if you charge your EV with electricity made from coal fired generators you reduce your car’s pollution by half. Li is now the same cost of AGM, sealed lead batteries and soon will be as cheap as and replace lead batteries in EV’s because they weight 1/3-1/4 the weight/cap. If you charge with solar, is way less.
