Charlotte Douglas International Airport to buy 5 Proterra electric buses; 9th airport

Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) has agreed to purchase five 35-foot Proterra Catalyst E2 electric buses and five 125 kW Proterra plug-in charging systems. Proterra battery-electric buses will contribute to CLT’s sustainability goals. Proterra Catalyst vehicles have no tailpipe emissions and decrease dependency on fossil fuels.

Asplundh adds medium-duty propane autogas F-650 trucks to fleet

Asplundh, an international provider of vegetation management services to utilities and municipalities, is one of the first in its industry to adopt propane autogas for some of the medium-duty trucks in its fleet. Currently, Asplundh has two Ford F-650 trucks powered by ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas fuel systems.

Frito-Lay buying 100 more Smith Electric Vehicle trucks in 2012; natural gas coming for tractor fleet

PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay North America division will purchase 100 Newton Series 2000 all-electric commercial vehicles in 2012 from Smith Electric Vehicles, bringing the total number of its electric fleet to more than 280. Over the past two years, 176 Smith Electric Vehicles trucks have been added to the Frito-Lay commercial delivery truck fleet.

FedEx Converts 92 Delivery Trucks to Hybrids, Expanding Hybrid-Electric Fleet by 50%

has added 92 hybrid-electric trucks to its delivery fleet by converting standard FedEx delivery trucks to hybrid-electric systems. The addition of the 92 trucks increases the FedEx fleet of hybrid-electric vehicles by more than 50%, from 172 to 264. The hybrid conversions were produced in Charlotte, N.C. FedEx Corp.
