Volvo Cars China and Shanghai International Automobile City Group—a local government supervision authority— will undertake a demonstration program with two Volvo C30 Electric cars in the community of Jiading outside Shanghai. In June 2011, Volvo Car Corporation started the production of the Volvo C30 Electric.

The Volvo Car Corporation has begun production of the C30 Electric ( earlier post ); initial deliveries to leasing customers, mainly companies, authorities and governmental bodies, will take place immediately after the summer. Volvo says it will build about 250 cars by the end of 2012, possibly more if market interest takes off.

Siemens Corporate Technology , Siemens’ research organization, supplied the drive systems for the prototypes of two electric cars shown at the Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle has a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) and a range of 250 km (155 miles), with 320 km (199 miles) possible with an enlarged battery pack. Source; Siemens CT.

Volvo Cars and energy company Göteborg Energi signed a letter of intent regarding cooperation in the area of electrical vehicles and recharge infrastructure. Under the agreement, Volvo will provide 10 Volvo C30 Electric cars ( earlier post ), with delivery starting during this autumn.
