The facility will filter 4,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the air and mineralize it underground. With direct air capture technology, carbon dioxide is extracted from the ambient air and air free of CO 2 is returned to the atmosphere. The carbon dioxide is thus permanently removed from the atmosphere.
CO 2 and water are extracted directly from ambient air via an adsorption/desorption process. At the heart of the solar reactor is a ceramic structure made of cerium oxide, which enables a two-step reaction—the redox cycle—to split water and CO 2 into syngas.
Decadal warming rates arising from (i) greenhouse gases and aerosols alone (black); (ii) that obtained including the stratospheric water decline after 2000 (red); and (iii) including both the stratospheric water vapor decline after 2000 and the increase in the 1980s and 1990s (cyan). Stratospheric water vapor and radiative processes.

Unlike the others, however, Audi over the past few years has embarked on a comprehensive approach to developing a range of new CO₂-neutral fuels as part of its overall strategy for sustainable, carbon-neutral mobility: Audi e-fuels. solar and wind), water and CO 2 to produce liquid or gaseous fuels with a very low carbon intensity.
Methanization works by producing methane (CH 4 ) and water (H 2 O) by catalytic conversion from carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) and hydrogen (H 2 ). Water causes problems with conventional processes, however; to remove it, serial methanization stages are typically required—with condensation areas in between.
Over the next three years, the two Swiss research institutes will jointly search for practical ways of linking carbon dioxide and hydrogen to form longer-chain molecules and thus produce synthetic fuels. Carbon dioxide and green hydrogen are the starting materials for the manufacturing process to be developed. —Brigitte Buchmann.
The process involves subjecting methane to pressurized steam in the presence of a catalyst, creating a reaction that produces hydrogen and carbon monoxide, as well as a small amount of carbon dioxide. In the last step, pressure-swing adsorption, carbon dioxide and other impurities are removed, leaving behind pure hydrogen.
They include details of nitrogen oxides (NO x ), sulphur oxides (SO x ), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), ammonia (NH 3 ) and particulate matter (PM 10 ). In addition to the 27 Member States of the European Union, it also includes data from Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

—Thomas Fritschi, Managing Director of RENK-Maag in Winterthur The gear units are developed and built at the RENK site in Winterthur, Switzerland. Instead of CO 2 , this technology produces water, which in turn is reused in the integrated process. They are used in a direct reduction plant in Siemens compressors.
Most climate models have suggested that evapotranspiration, which is the movement of water from the land to the atmosphere, would increase with global warming because of increased evaporation of water from the ocean and more precipitation overall. Data indeed show that some areas are wetter than they used to be. —Jung et al.
Researchers from Purdue University and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland are proposing a new integrated process involving the co-production of hydrogen and electricity from solar thermal energy—a concept they label “hydricity”. —Rakesh Agrawal, Purdue University’s Winthrop E.
