The plant will produce carbon-neutral fuel—enough to decarbonize more than 400,000 vehicles annually. eFuels are produced by combining green hydrogen made from renewable power and recycled carbon dioxide. The gasoline synthesis from methanol has been commercially proven in a 15000-bpd plant in Turkmenistan since 2019.
The Penwell facility will be the first gasoline manufacturer in the world to incorporate carbon capture and sequestration. The TIGAS technology enables us to cut both the production cost and the lifecycle carbon footprint of everyday fuel by 50%. The Penwell facility will also produce ‘blue’ hydrogen.
